On March 28, 2013, FX announced that the show had been picked up for a tenth season. FX President John Landgraf stated that there may be more seasons after that: “Whether it goes beyond that depends on your mamma and whether the people who created the show want to go and whether the audience still wants to watch."
The renewal for It's Always Sunny -- picked up for two seasons of 10 episodes each -- will take the series through its 12th season. The series will become the longest-running live-action comedy in cable history, and its 12 seasons will tie My Three Sons and Two And A Half Men for the second-longest-running American live action comedy in TV history.
season 10 will air in January of 2015 to coincide with the premiere of a new, untitled, Tracy Morgan project headed up by RCG productions as part of their 3 year contract extension.

E! online reported the following regarding season 10 on April 11th and 14th:
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is poised to become the longest-running live comedy in history! The new season, season 10, will see Dee, Charlie, Dennis, Mac and Frank attempt to break the record for beer drinking on a commercial airline flight. Oh, and a couple of cannibal killer half brothers named Miguel Garcia and Brian Ramirez will come into play in a later episode. Hurray!
We've seen the Reynolds family tackle countless of crazy shenanigans, but we've never seen them ban together for an over-the-top game show. Get excited for Philly Feud in season 10! It's typically a wholesome and fun family game-show, but when our gang invades the studio, their vulgar answers and Frank's general creepiness ruins pretty much everything. Sounds amazing!
